Hello, friends. Well this is my big ol’ giant DISCLAIMER. As you will see in my resume style disclaimer picture there: The views, opinions, and experiences shared on The 911 Lady are entirely my own. I do not speak for, represent, or act on behalf of any employer, past or present. For privacy and security reasons I do not publicly name or identify my place of employment, the agencies I worked for, or any individuals involved in any events described. All stories are based on my personal perspective and are shared in a way that strives to protect confidentiality, complies with applicable laws and policies, and respects the trust of the public and my colleagues.

That said, I think it’s important to say very simply, I am human. I fail sometimes. We all do. We try not to, but it does happen. It doesn’t mean that we are not improving (or at least trying to). That said, it’s important to me to address the subject of humor and speaking authentically.

I truly believe everything is funny in the right context. And I do mean everything. I know that’s not “normal” for some people. For me, it’s okay. Maybe you’ve heard of “gallows humor”? Well, it’s a real thing. You should know people in certain professions like military, public safety, nursing, OMI, people who deal with trauma a lot, tend to have a slightly different colored humor than, well, people who aren’t dealing with that. I feel that’s okay! There is something incredibly healing about laughing and finding humor even in the worst of situations.

Also, this is, as I say, “My. Own. Shit.” I do occasionally use colorful language because this is me talking and being myself and I am not going to fire myself for being authentically me. If you don’t like it, sorry, but also, either overlook it or feel free to leave. I do aim to be respectful, hence, the warning. But I will never beg anyone to listen or be here and either you find value and belonging here, or you don’t. I feel love and appreciation for you either way. That doesn’t mean this is a place where you will read all kinds of bad language and this is not a place to be abusive or crazy things like that – ’cause I’m a professional, dammit! (Get it? That’s funny.) But it’s important for me to help you understand, colorful language here and there is part of how I communicate too. That’s okay. I believe the greatest gift we can give ourselves is becoming our authentic selves, growing, choosing, changing. My people will come. The rest will move along, and I will let them.

It’s my greatest wish that you find something of value here, inspirational, insightful, educational, etc. But if it’s not to your liking, I also sincerely thank you for checking it out and I invite you to find and create what makes you happy. This is my house. When you invite me to yours, and I am very happy to be invited, be sure to let me know the expectations of your house as well so that we can all get along.
Thank you for being here. I wish you all the best. Bless!
